Our donkeys

Six rescued donkeys, one growing family.

At Akal Farm, our six donkeys have become a much-loved part of the family.

The story began with three older donkeys who came from Sidi Kaouki, by the sea. During the difficult COVID period, they had been abandoned in a field. We untied them, arranged a lorry to bring them to the farm, and gave them a new place to call home.

The biggest is Elvis, and the little lady is Henrietta. Since then, the family has grown by another three donkeys, including a very young one who is only around eight months old.

They are sweet, affectionate characters who often come over to say hello. Their gentle, sociable personalities bring plenty of warmth to everyday life at Akal, and we are very happy to have them here.
