Come for a swim, relax in the shade and stay for lunch in the countryside. Pool passes are 200 MAD per person.

La Luna di Luca and Akal Farm are joining forces to bring Italian-Mediterranean cooking to the Moroccan countryside. Rooted in Akal’s gardens, it brings together farm produce, handmade pasta, good bread, olive oil and the pleasure of gathering around the table.

Where is Akal?
Akal Farm is located in the Moroccan countryside outside Essaouira, at Douar Ait Elouafi, commune Lahsinate, Essaouira, Morocco. It is a working farm where seasonal produce, Italian-Mediterranean cooking and a relaxed countryside atmosphere come together. It is a lovely change of pace from the medina, with space to enjoy lunch, explore the farm and spend time outdoors.
How do I get there?
You can reach Akal by car or taxi from Essaouira. We recommend checking the location on your map before setting off and allowing extra time for the journey through the countryside. If you are unfamiliar with the area, contact us before your visit and we can help you with directions and advice on getting here.
Do I need a car?
Not necessarily. You can arrange a taxi from Essaouira, although we recommend planning your return journey in advance, particularly if you are visiting for lunch or spending the day by the pool. If you need help with transport arrangements, contact us before your visit.
Can you help with transport?
If you need transport from Essaouira, get in touch before your visit. We can discuss your plans and help you explore the available options. Please contact us in advance rather than assuming that a transfer is automatically included in your booking.

The menu follows the produce available from the garden and the kitchen, with Italian-Mediterranean influences from La Luna di Luca. What type of food is served?
Akal brings together the produce and setting of a working farm with the Italian-Mediterranean culinary spirit of La Luna di Luca. Expect a seasonal approach to cooking, with fresh pasta, garden vegetables, herbs, good bread and olive oil at the heart of the experience. The menu changes according to the season and what is ready to harvest, so each visit reflects what the farm and kitchen have to offer.
Is there a vegetarian option?
Vegetarian options can be discussed when arranging your visit. Because the menu follows the season and the produce available, please let us know your dietary preferences when booking so the kitchen can advise on suitable dishes. For vegan requirements or other specific dietary needs, contact us in advance.
Can you accommodate allergies?
Please tell us about any food allergies or intolerances in the dietary requirements field when booking, and contact us directly if you have a serious allergy. This gives us an opportunity to discuss your needs with the kitchen before your visit. We cannot guarantee that every allergen can be completely excluded from the kitchen environment, so please contact us before booking if you have a severe allergy.

Children are welcome at Akal. Please include their ages and the total number of adults and children when making your enquiry, so we can help plan your visit appropriately. If you are visiting for the pool, please contact us about any applicable child-access arrangements and supervision requirements before your visit.
Can I come for the pool?
Yes. Akal’s saltwater pool is open, with pool passes available at 200 MAD per person. Spend the day swimming, relaxing in the countryside and enjoying the atmosphere of the farm. Pool access is booked separately from restaurant lunch. Use the booking form to select “Pool pass”, choose your preferred date and enter the number of guests. Please check current availability and any pool rules with us before your visit.
Can I book private events?
Yes, we welcome enquiries for private gatherings, celebrations and group experiences at Akal. Whether you are planning a special lunch, a birthday or a gathering with friends and family, please tell us your preferred date, group size and what you have in mind. Can I visit the farm?
Akal is a working farm, and the land is an important part of the experience. There is no set tour — you are welcome to wander the gardens and orchards at your own pace during your visit. If you would like to spend longer exploring, or want to see particular areas of the farm, please contact us in advance so we can advise on what is possible.
Can I buy produce?
Akal’s connection to seasonal produce is central to the farm-to-table experience. Availability varies according to the harvest and season. Contact us to ask about current produce, vegetable baskets, olive oil, honey or other farm products, and we will let you know what is available at the time.
What happens if it rains?
Akal is an outdoor countryside destination, so weather can affect the experience, particularly pool access. If rain or poor weather is forecast for your visit, please contact us to discuss the conditions and any available alternatives. We will advise you on the options for your booking.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly for weekends, larger groups, special occasions and busy holiday periods. The farm opens from 11am and we are closed on Fridays. Lunch reservations are available from 12pm to 3pm. Pool passes are for the day. For special requests, larger bookings or out-of-hours visits, please contact us first.
