Akal is entering a new chapter

First the farm. Now a slower day at Akal.

Akal is beginning a gentle new chapter. La Luna di Luca, a London Italian restaurant, is joining the farm’s dining story and bringing a light Italian touch to the table.

The heart stays the same: seasonal produce, warm Moroccan hospitality, organic growing and long countryside lunches shaped by what the farm gives that day.

Akal is a place to swim, eat and slow down, while staying close to the farm and the rhythm of the land.

After a morning in the water, settle in for a long Italian lunch at La Luna di Luca. Fresh pasta, good wine and seasonal ingredients meet the produce of the farm.

The table begins in the beds and stays close to the land: simple, generous and shaped by what is growing. Come hungry. Stay awhile.

The Farm

Meet the land.

Akal means earth. The organic farm sits inland from Essaouira, where Atlantic light, olive trees and vegetable beds shape the pace of the day in the Essaouira countryside. See it in the Akal Farm photo gallery.

Its story is rooted in family farming, Berber knowledge, organic agriculture and respect for the land. No chemical shortcut replaces the quiet work of compost, rotation, harvest and care.

First there was the farm. Now there is a table. The next chapter grows from the same soil.

We celebrated my friend’s birthday at AKAL yesterday with a wonderful farm-to-table lunch in a beautiful, tranquil setting. I had the vegetarian option which was delicious and full of flavour. The staff were amazing and very attentive.

Beautiful farm and gardens and great farm to table food. Portions are huge — took most of my food home but a lovely dining experience in a peaceful setting.
